The PTO Volunteer page isn't the only way to get involved and engage with WGA community. Read to learn ways WGA families are spreading #kindness!

Fulfill Grade-Level Wishlists and Classroom Requests

If you go to the grade-level pages on from the main WGA Website (under "Our Staff" in the top menu), you can usually find a bullet for "Supply List" for each grade. These pages usually have suggested classroom items, links to Amazon wishlists, and other specific needs.

Sometimes requests for volunteers or items may come from a Room Parent or a teacher, directly. The PTO often doesn't have visibility at this granular level, so staying connected with your kids' teachers and/or classroom community using CUSD's ParentSquare, as well as, reading all the grade-level correspondence can be helpful.

Other times, the PTO gets a request from a teachers or staff for a small grant or purchase request. When this happens, your PTO dollars help fund these items!

Support the needs of our Specials Teachers

Since WGA Specials serve the entire student body (and they don't often have a designated Room Parent like grade-level classrooms), PTO is more likely to step in and coordinate some of their requests.

But don't wait on us to list the opportunity. The best way to be proactive is by reading their Quarter Newsletters, which are always posted on the Specials web and include any requests for items or material donations, as well as, some volunteer opportunities.

Also, individual Specials pages may also have information on their pages, as well. Check out Performing Arts "Parent Help" page and Visual Arts "WGA Collaborative Build" page for additional ideas.

At the PTO Meeting on 8/8/23, parents were encouraged to bring items to help stock the FLitE program's 'Mock Grocery Store'. And the response was overwhelming and appreciated!

Volunteer for Art Masterpiece Program

The Art Masterpiece (AM) program is an in-school enrichment program to promote art literacy in K-6 schools. It is supported and coordinated at the CUSD district-level. Click here to learn more details about the program.

WGA PTO supports this program by purchasing art supplies and additional lesson materials for our WGA students. But PTO members can get involved to volunteer to teach art lessons or simply help assemble art supplies. Reach out to our WGA AM Coordinator, Erin Wilkens (artmasterpiecewga@gmail.com) if you're interested in learning more.

WGA Families in the Community

It makes our hearts swell when we see WGA families actively coordinating and engaging others in the WGA community to spread kindness in other ways.

Allona Metcalf, WGA Parent (and past WGA PTO Treasurer) is organizing a community volunteer event with Feed My Starving Children Organization on Saturday, August 19 from 9am-10:45am for WGA Families. If interested, sign up here.

We love sharing stories of our WGA families in action, representing and supporting WGA! If you have a story to share, contact our Community Chair at wgapto@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We regularly post new listings on the wgapto.org/volunteer page. The PTO and WGA teachers/staff are always grateful for your help!
